Newbury entered the match ranked 1st in NECVA-New England and 11th in the nation. The Nighthawks (27-8) cruised to a 3-0 win over the host Saints (12-14). Newbury came out strong, winning game one, 30-19. Emmanuel fought back in the second set, keeping it close throughout, but Newbury came away with a 31-29 win. The Nighthawks went on to prevail in game three by a score of 30-22.]]></description>

The Saints went 2-0 in Saturday's "pool play" with wins over Bard College (3-1) and Lasell College (3-0). On Sunday, the Saints fell to 12th ranked Ramapo in straight sets and were then defeated by the University of New Haven, 3-1, in the match for third place. The Roadrunners of Ramapo went on to defeat 11th ranked MIT to take the tournament championship. The Roadrunners became the second team in the tournament's history to claim the crown in their first appearance, as Emmanuel accomplished this feat back in 2006.]]></description>
