November 13, 2007 - The Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams competed in the NCAA Division III Regional Championship this past weekend at Connecticut College. Junior Christine Gaspar (Attleboro, MA) and senior Emily McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) led the women's team with huge personal best performances. Both athletes beat their 2006 times by well over a minute, with Gaspar running a 24:09 6k and McCaffrey finishing at 24:18. Junior Anna Merrow (Kennebunkport, ME), sophomore Amanda Strout (East Longmeadow, MA), and freshman Maureen Kellett (Westborough, MA) rounded out the top five scoring for the Saints. The women's team finished 37th overall out of 53 competing schools and 3rd out of the GNAC competitors.
The men's team was led by senior T.J. Griffis (Green Harbor, MA), with a time of 30:05. He was followed by sophomore Tim Flaherty (Mattapoisett, MA), who ran the fastest 8k of his career (31:46). Freshman Ben Cleveland (Auburn, ME) finished 3rd for the Saints, followed by sophomores Pat Welton (Derby, CT) and Doug Gillum (West Boylston, MA).
