SAINTS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON WITH MIT MEET :: The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams wrapped up the regular season on Saturday by competing in MIT's Co-Ed Invitational.

Cambridge, MA - The Emmanuel Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Teams wrapped up the regular season on Saturday by competing in MIT's Co-Ed Invitational. Senior captains Matt Hickey (North Attleboro, MA), Rob Allen (Plymouth, MA) and Ryan Bringhurst (Walpole, MA) led the men's team with their strong performances. Hickey broke his own school record in the 800-meters with a time of 2:04.17. Allen placed 2nd in the 400-meters and was followed by senior Mike Thurnauer (Reading, MA), who placed 5th. Bringhurst broke his personal record in both the 55-meters and 200-meters. Freshman Thomas Ryan Maher (Gales Ferry, CT) placed 8th in the 55-meter hurdles and improved on his best in the 200-meters. Sophomore Kevin Ly (Portland, ME) placed 5th in the 55-meters. Sophomore Patrick Welton (Derby, CT) improved his time in the 400-meters by over 2 seconds, while sophomore Doug Gillum (Boylston, MA) broke his personal record in the shot put by over 3 feet.

The women's team was led junior captains Cat Lariviere (Windham, NH) and Christine Gaspar (Attleboro, MA). Lariviere lowered her school record in the mile with a 6th place finish and also anchored the distance medley team of Gaspar, Alison Lynch (Pawtucket, RI), and Emily McCaffrey (East Greenwich, RI) to a new school record. Gaspar placed 3rd in the 3K with a time of 11:35.56 and McCaffrey improved her time in the 800-meters by another 3 seconds. Lynch and freshman Megan Clary (Cumberland, RI) lowered their times in the 400-meters. Sophomore Sarah Soldano (Bethel, CT) placed 4th in the long jump and tied for 4th in the high jump with sophomore Megan Reichel (Mashpee, MA). Freshman Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Milford, MA) improved her time in the 55-meters and 200-meters. Sophomore Ashley Adamson (Scituate, MA) placed 6th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.84. Freshman Maureen Kellett (Westborough, MA) dropped 13 seconds off of her time in the mile, while classmate Dana Griffin (Walpole, MA) improved her time in the 800-meters.

With the regular season complete, only certain team members who have qualified in their respective events will continue to compete in the post-season. The men's 4 X 400m relay team (Mike Thurnauer, Rob Littleton, Matt Hickey and Rob Allen) along with Ryan Maher (55-meter hurdles) will compete at the men's New England Division III Championship at Tufts University this Saturday (2/23). Sarah Soldano (High Jump / long Jump) and Emmanuel's distance medley team (Christine Gaspar, Alison Lynch, Emily McCaffrey and Cat Lariviere) will compete at the women's New England Division III Championship at Smith College on Saturday.
